How to apply Champion Valve Oil

Time to time your instrument will need some maintenance, usually a clean up and lubrication of vavles in order to keep it in the best playing condition possible.

We've put together an easy to follow guide below:

  1. Unscrew one valve and remove it from the instrument, making a note of how it will go back into the casing when ready to be re-installed.

  2. Remove the bottom valve cap from the same valve casing

  3. Clean the valve casing and bottom cap thoroughly with Champion valve oil and valve brush to remove traces of exisiting oil.

  4. Clean the valve with Champion valce oil and cloth to remove traces of the old, existing oil.

  5. Apply 2 to 4 small drops of Champion valve oil to the valve and not in the holes (valves can and do vary, so adjust the amount of valve oil if necessary).

  6. Carefully return the valve to the casing, making sure it clicks into place.

  7. Return the bottom valve cap to the casing

  8. Check the valve moves freely and smoothly. If not, just repeat steps 1,4,5,6 & 8, changing the amount of valve oil as appropriate. Make a note of how many drops most suits the valve for future applications.

  9. Repeat steps 1 to 8 for the remaining valves.

When necessary, re-apply Champion valve oil following stepas 1,5 & 6.
